Chris Evans has aired his ‘frustrations’ with the controversy surrounding the same-sex kiss in Pixar’s Lightyear. The Captain America actor takes the lead in the anticipated Toy Story spin-off, voicing the main character Buzz Lightyear.
However, the film’s release has been overshadowed by criticism over a same-sex kiss between two female characters, one of which is named Hawthorne and voiced by Uzo Aduba.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Disney had cut the scene from the film before restoring it amid backlash over Florida’s Don’t Say Gay bill.
LGBT employees and allies at Pixar are said to have sent a letter to Disney bosses claiming that the company had censored ‘overtly gay affection’ in its films.
