homophobic attack - for being hand in hand with another man. John-Paul Kesseler, 38, was the target of the vicious attack on October 10 as he returned to a hotel with a close friend after a night out.
He was smashed across the head with the bottle and whacked with an iron bar, reports Birmingham Live. His attacker fled the scene in Birmingham city centre, leaving an injured John-Paul bleeding on the side of the road.
The victim and his friend were then subjected to homophobic taunts from passers-by who stated: "We don't agree with that LGBTQ stuff." Mr Kesseler, who is a student, shared snaps of his wounds on his Twitter account, sparking an outpour of support.
