Jessica Chastain Pays Tribute to LGBTQ+ Community in Best Actress Oscar Speech

Jessica Chastain has just won her first Oscar! The 45-year-old actress picked up the Best Actress honor at the at the 2022 Academy Awards on Sunday (March 27) for her starring role in The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Jessica previously picked up the same honor at the Screen Actors Guild Awards and then a Critics Choice Awards, which both shocked her.

In her acceptance speech, she called out “discriminatory and bigoted legislation that is sweeping our country with the only goal of further dividing us,” and she paid tribute to the LGBTQ community. Jessica also shared that she was inspired by Tammy Faye’s “radical acts of love” and by “her compassion,” adding, “I see it as a guiding principle that leads up forward.” “You are unconditionally loved for the uniqueness that is you,” she concluded.
