John Barrowman would 'love' to see transgender Doctor Who succeed Jodie Whittaker

John Barrowman has weighed in on the future of Doctor Who - and a possible transgender Time Lord. Dancing On Ice's John, who recently returned to the BBC time travel romp as the immortal Captain Jack Harkness, told that he would "love" to see a trans incarnation.

The Doctor is an alien with the power of regeneration - meaning that multiple actors can take on the role. The current Doctor, Jodie Whittaker, is the first female version after 14 men portrayed the role since the show's birth in the 1960s.

And John would be happy to see the show "take another leap" and introduce a trans of gender nonspecific Doctor, as speculation ramps up about who will succeed Jodie.
