This year’s MTV EMAs 2021 were all about celebrating diversity, inclusion and ‘music for all’ in support of the LGBTQ+ community. Taking place in Budapest, Hungary, the night saw the likes of Ed Sheeran, Saweetie, Yungblud and Maneskin rock out on stage as the EMAs welcomed its first live audience since 2019.
It came after MTV recently stood by their decision to move forward with hosting the awards show in Hungary despite the country’s recent passage of legislation which has been widely condemned as anti-LGBT.The legislation bans television content featuring gay people during the day and in primetime, only allowing it to run during its overnight programming.
