1.5 million partygoers have been known to descend on London to enjoy Gay Pride, so given the high volume of attendees and current restrictions, London pride has been pushed back to September 11 2021.
That being said, there are still loads of exciting parties and events planned for summer in both London and across the UK. Pride month started as an extension of a famous gay protest that began in New York in 1969.
Protests broke out after the police raided an iconic gay bar called the Stonewall Inn - and the marches escalated from there.
The police conflict in 1969 sparked an uprising in the gay community that grew year on year and became a global event - recognised and celebrated by people from all walks of life.
