Andrzej Sebastian Duda (born 16 May 1972) is a Polish lawyer and politician who has served as president of Poland since 6 August 2015. Before becoming president, Andrzej Duda was a member of Polish Lower House (Sejm) from 2011 to 2014 and the European Parliament from 2014 to 2015.
US presidential candidate Joe Biden has condemned the rise in LGBTQ+ free towns in Poland, saying they have ‘no place in the EU or in the world’.
Earlier this month, head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen criticised the Polish government’s attitude to the LGBTQ+ community, saying LGBTQ+ free zones do not belong in the EU.
Biden agreed, saying on Twitter ‘LGBTQ+ rights are human rights’. Ursula von der LeyenHostility towards the LGBTQ+ community has grown considerably since the re-election of anti-LGBTQ+ president Andrzej Duda.
