Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Kamala Harris went head to head at the 2020 US debate, and failed to mention anything on LGBTQ+ rights or legislation. The vice presidential televised debate took place on Wednesday (October 7) in Utah, and saw the Trump’s right hand man go against Joe Biden’s chosen Democratic running mate.
While the debate touched on important topics including COVID-19, unemployment, fracking and tackled the topic of white supremacy, the future of LGBTQ+ rights and regulations was very much in question.
Neither the Democrat or Republican chose to address any issues surrounding the community. This choice to avoid LGBTQ+ related subjects may come as a surprise as there has been a shocking number of transgender murders
