Tiara Banks, a 24-year-old black trans woman, is the 16th known trans person to have been killed in the US this year after she was murdered in Chicago on April 21.
According to LGBTQ Nation, Banks was driving her car and was stopped at a junction when she was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at the scene.
No further details have yet been released and no suspects have been publicly identified. Banks is the third trans woman to have been killed in Chicago within the past four months.
