Truro Crown Court in Cornwall last week, Cornwall Live reports.Prosecutor Heather Hope told the court the two were neighbors and Hambley befriended the lonely young teen after he had offered to help with her yard work.
Their friendship grew close, and Hambley began plying the young lad with alcohol and tobacco to lessen his inhibitions before forcing sex on him.“I wish I had you in my bedroom,” she eventually told the boy, Hope said. She told the court how things changed a short while later.“He confided in her that he was gay and she walked him into the bedroom and said she was going to prove he was straight before snogging him on the bed,” Hope revealed, adding the sexual abuse continued over the next several weeks.
She also refused to wear a condom, telling him she wanted to become pregnant with his child. The abuse was uncovered after a neighbor discovered the pair in dressing gowns one morning.
The boy later confirmed the exact nature of what was happening to his mother and the authorities. The boy also revealed the toll Hambley’s actions had exacted upon him, including attempting suicide.“I can’t go one day without crying and she has destroyed me and my self-worth,” the young teen said in a statement that was read before the court. “I feel useless, worthless, and stupid.”In his plea for leniency in sentencing, Hambley’s lawyer, Rupert Taylor, pointed to a lack of criminal history on the part of his client and noted she is remorseful for her actions.“She is ashamed of her behavior,” Taylor told the court.
