The 2010 gay comedy You Should Meet My Son!, directed by Keith Hartman, won film festival awards and has been up at Amazon.com for years.
Until now. For a reason that Amazon refuses to divulge, the You Should Meet My Son! DVD (not the streaming option) was suddenly yanked, having been deemed “offensive.” Why?
By whom? Was there a viewer complaint? Does Amazon have a bigoted contractor trawling for queer content that crosses an imaginary line?
My guess is somehow, based on the art, it was construed as being incestuous. There's literally nothing in the film — about a conserva-mom trying to set up her (secretly) gay son — that could possible be worse than some of the other films offered on Amazon, which Hartman points out include porn.
