Boris Johnson tried and failed to get an investigator to "water down" a report about Priti Patel bullying staff, according to reports.

The Prime Minister is facing questions over the official inquiry that found Home Secretary Priti Patel bullied staff. Sources said he tried to pressure his standards advisor to water the report down.

Downing Street did not deny suggestions that Mr Johnson had tried and failed to convince Sir Alex Allan to tone down his conclusion that Patel's behaviour amounted to bullying as he found instances of shouting and swearing.
