But director Marianne Elliott’s reimagined production also features another major casting switch that helped land actor Matt Doyle a Tony Award nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.Doyle plays the perpetually anxious Jamie, whose pre-wedding jitters serve as inspiration for “Getting Married Today,” an ingenious, high-velocity patter song that questions heteronormative traditions.Doyle is no stranger to Broadway, having made his debut in the original production of Spring Awakening.
