It's A Sin viewers were left shocked by a reference to Phillip Schofield being 'secretly gay' in the 1980s. The This Morning host came out last year, and has insisted that he would not have married his wife of 27 years, Stephanie Lowe, if he knew he was gay.
And the show's writer Russell T Davies has said that the reference was simply a coincidence, and that it was actually written and filmed before Phillip came out.
He insisted it wasn't a "potshot", saying that the only reason the line went into the show was because he had no idea Phillip was actually gay.
In the scene, Ritchie (Olly Alexander) is talking with his lover Donald (Nathaniel Hall) about which celebrities they think are gay.
