mural is to be revealed for Egyptian human rights activist Sarah Hegazi in front of the 30 Grand Parade building, which crosses with Morley Street, on Saturday, September 5 from 12pm.Sarah Hegazi took her own life while in exile in Canada.
She claimed asylum there after being arrested, detained and tortured for raising the LGBTQ+ flag at a concert in Cairo in 2017.At the mural’s reveal, speakers will highlight the LGBTQ+ struggle in Egypt (schedule TBA) and organisers are asking those interested in attending to bring a flower, water, a mask and a flag/sign, light a candle and leave a message for victims of rainbow struggles..
