In 1979, In Dublin’s film critic reported on the opening of Dublin’s newest cinema, the Hirschfeld Biograph, describing its winter/spring programme as “adventurous” – that season’s programme included Derek Jarman’s Sebastiane and Max Baer’s Ode to Billy Joe.
