Drag Race contestant Gia Gunn has apologized after she called coronavirus a ‘hoax’ and said people who wore masks were ‘brainwashed’.
In the original Instagram video she described the ‘whole mask thing’ as ‘fucking ridiculous’. However her comments sparked backlash, including from her fellow Drag Race contestants.
People accused Gunn of being insensitive and putting fans’ health at risk. Moreover, as COVID-19 rises in the US by 45,000 cases a day, they added: ‘People are dying.’ Gunn became famous on season six of RuPaul’s Drag Race, season two of The Switch Drag Race and season four of Drag Race: All Stars.
She has reversed her position and apologized. She said: ‘I realized that this was completely wrong of me and very insensitive,
