After gay former Assemblyman Tom Ammiano's Roman Catholic high school gave him his varsity letter jacket for track earlier this year decades after he graduated, last weekend the San Francisco FrontRunners honored him at its Pride Run in Golden Gate Park.
As has been reported in several outlets over the past few months, Ammiano had been on the track team at Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair, New Jersey.
After running a successful race, Ammiano was told that he could not receive his high school letter because he had run in "an illegitimate meet."
