Shea Couleé opens up about filming Marvel’s upcoming series Ironheart: “I’m so deeply excited”

Drag Race star Shea Couleé has shared details regarding her experience working on the forthcoming Ironheart series. Back in 2020, Marvel announced that a live-action version of the beloved comic staring Dominique Thorne was headed to Disney+.

Over the last year, new details surrounding the series have come to light – including the recent casting of Drag Race icon Shea Couleé in an undisclosed role.   “BEYOND excited to be strutting out of the Werkroom right into the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” she wrote via Instagram on 4 August.  “Words cannot express how excited I am to be a part of this amazing project!

Acting was my first love, and I’m thrilled to be doing it again in such a big way!” With its release date tentatively set for fall 2023, Shea recently opened up about the filming processing and bringing drag to the MCU in a new interview with E!

News.  “It was really so humbling to be able to crossover into a much more mainstream avenue, and push the need forward as far as drag is concerned, in the way that its consumer and in pop culture,” Shea told the news outlet. “I’m so deeply excited for everyone to see what this role is, what it entails and everything it is.” Shea also praised the studio for fostering a welcoming and collaborative environment. “Everyone at Marvel has been so unbelievably open and receptive to my experiences and my expertise about drag,” she explained. “They’ve allowed me to really come into the MCU and put my very specific Shea Couleé print on the Marvel Universe.” Towards the end of her interview, Shea gave MCU fans a sneak peek into what they can expect from the series. “It’s going to be really impactful.
