President Trump has selected Amy Coney Barrett, a federal appellate judge and a favorite among religious conservatives, as his choice to replace progressive champion Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court, the Washington Blade has confirmed.
An inside source close to the selection process confirmed to the Blade late Friday Trump’s pick is Barrett, who currently serves on the U.S.
Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. The news was first reported by CNN and CBS News. Trump is expected to announce the nomination formally on Saturday.
It will be Trump’s third pick for the Supreme Court after the appointment and confirmations of U.S. Associate Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh.
