For the last 17 years, I’ve worked in the queer world in one capacity or another. From my current work in media and advocacy to curating events and activism – I’ve cultivated relationships with thousands of queer people worldwide over the years.
What have I learned? Queer women are losing our spaces, not because of a lack of interest or desire to come together as a community but because we lack the advertorial and venture capital opportunities that others are able to secure.
I’m constantly hit with this duality of brands, professional associations, and events teams telling me that queer women don’t show up, aren’t interested in supporting the community, and have no money despite statistical evidence to the contrary.
While simultaneously listening to the roar of our community begging for investment, opportunities, and support. Enough is enough.
