LGBTQ+ Disney Plus Here’s why Love, Victor had to end at season 3 even though ‘it wasn’t always the plan’
supports HTML5 videoThe creators of Love, Victor have addressed when they came to the decision to bring the curtain down on the show at season 3.On Wednesday, all episodes of the third season of the series are dropping on Disney Plus and on Hulu in the US, revealing whether Victor (Michael Cimino) decided to stay with his boyfriend Benji (George Sear) or embark on a new romance with Rahim (Anthony Keyvan) after becoming entangled in a love triangle. The show first launched in 2020 as a spin-off of the acclaimed 2018 film Love, Simon, and is set in the same universe, with Victor turning to Simon (Nick Robinson) for advice when figuring out his sexuality, eventually coming to the realisation that he’s gay.During a recent conversation with Metro.co.uk, executive producers Brian Tanen, Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker spoke about the programme coming to an end, with Isaac revealing that they decided the third season would be its last ‘well in advance’.‘It wasn’t always the plan, but it was something that we talked with Hulu and decided well in advance of the third season, which was really amazing,’ said Isaac, who also co-created Love, Victor with Elizabeth, having previously written the screenplay for Love, Simon with her.‘It allowed us to plan ahead and craft the ending of this story exactly as we wanted to.’He continued: ‘I hope people feel when they see it that it was a real full circle and there’s a real sense of completion for Victor and all his friends on their coming-of-age journeys.
