Following the brutal attack on Speaker Nancy Pelosi's 82-year-old husband, Paul, on Friday morning, Caitlyn Jenner felt it imperative to weigh in.Speaking on Fox News, where she's a contributor, Jenner insinuated the Speaker and her husband didn't have adequate security to repel such an attack. Paul Pelosi is now recovering after a 42-year-old man burst into his San Francisco home and attacked him with a hammer; he was allegedly looking for the Speaker, who was not home at the time.Jenner quickly pivoted to casting blame on everyone from President Biden to San Francisco itself, which she called a "violent city" and referred to a crime wave in the U.S., though crime remains significantly lower throughout the nation's cities than at its apex 30 years ago.

(CNN) -- The man who allegedly attacked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband early Friday posted memes and conspiracy theories on Facebook about Covid vaccines, the 2020 election and the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, and an acquaintance told CNN that he seemed "out of touch with reality."David DePape, 42, was identified by police Friday as the suspect in the assault on Paul Pelosi at the speaker's San Francisco home.Two of DePape's relatives told CNN that DePape is estranged from his family, and confirmed that the Facebook account -- which was taken down by the social media company on Friday -- belonged to him.His stepfather, Gene DePape, said David DePape grew up in Powell River, British Columbia, and left Canada about 20 years ago to pursue a relationship that brought him to California."I really don't know what to think," the suspect's uncle, Mark DePape, said of his nephew's alleged attack on Pelosi. An advocacy group in Denver is bringing attention to domestic violence as an ongoing issue. Men and LGBTQ+ people have been calling for help in more significant numbers since the pandemic began, according to the group.SafeHouse Denver is hoping to snap the stigma of speaking out for anyone who is a victim of domestic violence. According to its website, the group is the only agency in the city and county of Denver that offers comprehensive domestic violence services to the victims of domestic abuse.The most common perception of domestic violence is that it is specific to women with cis-male partners.While SafeHouse Denver reports an increase in the number of men and people who identify as LGBTQ+, only 5 percent of their clients are males, and 13 percent are LGBTQ+, according to Denver Fox affiliate KDVR.According to the CDC’s National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey, 44 percent of lesbians and 61 percent of bisexual women experience rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner, compared to 35 percent of straight women.LGBTQ+ members reported high rates of intimate partner violence, according to the 2013 CDC study.

As school boards vote to limit access to LGBTQ-themed books, an advocacy group has found that more LGBTQ+ people are running for school board positions than ever before.Data released by the LGBTQ Victory Fund, a national political organization that works to elect LGBTQ+ people to public office, shows that 82 out people are seeking school board seats. That's more than double the number in 2018, while in 2020 the number was 43.As of April, only 90 of the 90,000 school board members in the United States had been known to be out LGBTQ+ people, according to the Victory Fund-affiliated Victory Institute’s “Few & Under Fire: LGBTQ School Board Members in the U.S.” national report about the state of LGBTQ+ representation on school boards across the country.Victory Fund reported that of the LGBTQ+ school board members surveyed 47 percent had been the target of anti-LGBTQ+ verbal attacks as a candidate, and 51 percent had been the target of anti-LGBTQ+ verbal attacks as a school board member.

And that’s disappointing but it is what it is,” adding, “Everyone who ISN’T a homophobic weirdo should go see BROS tonight! You will have a blast!”Contemporary reading comprehension and short online tempers being what they are, these tweets immediately got translated into: “Billy Eichner called everyone who didn’t see ‘Bros’ a homophobe!”So what, then, should we take away from the disappointing opening weekend of “Bros”? Well, for starters, some of those online theories actually do hold water.

From the nightclub where Eichner’s Bobby meets and falls in love with Luke McFarlane’s buff Aaron, to the LGBTQ+ Museum grand opening, the Big Apple love story features several amazing sets — as well as a carefully curated DVD shelf. While production for “Bros” was originally meant to take place in Buffalo, N.Y, the pandemic thwarted plans, and with a new tax credit incentive, New Jersey became the stand-in for the rom-com (with a few scenes shot on the streets of New York and Provincetown). Sitting down with Variety, writer-director Nicholas Stoller and production designer Lisa Myers share insight into the film’s key sets.

Bros‘ opening weekend was a bit of a dud.Despite positive reviews, Billy Eichner‘s big, gay, studio rom-com underperformed at the box office, and the writer/star says the straights are to blame. But the internet is full of armchair experts, and everyone seems to have their own theory as to why Bros failed to bring people (straight, or otherwise) to the theater.One of the prevailing thoughts is that Bros just wasn’t marketed well.

Eichner, in a now viral tweet, claimed that straight people not showing up to an LGBTQ comedy was a driving force behind “Bros” underperformance. “Even with glowing reviews, great Rotten Tomatoes scores, an A CinemaScore, etc., straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, just didn’t show up for ‘Bros,'” Eichner wrote. “And that’s disappointing but it is what it is.” Eichner is certainly correct that some straight moviegoers weren’t interested in the material, while homophobia about two men falling in love also likely figured in. During a recent trip to a multiplex in Georgia, for instance, this writer saw a group of men being openly homophobic by mocking the “Bros” poster for featuring a guy putting his hand on another guy’s butt. However, the $4.8 million opening for “Bros” is so low that it also means many LGBTQ viewers didn’t show up to see the comedy in theaters either. So why did “Bros” disappoint?

The audience howled with laughter start to finish, burst into applause at the end, and some were wiping away tears as they walked out," Eichner began a series of tweets on Sunday.

Bros, touted as the first mainstream Hollywood studio-backed gay rom-com, has opened to a less than enthusiastic response at the US Box office.Variety reported that Bros debuted at number four and had grossed $4.8 million in its opening weekend – half the collections projected by the studio. Universal had expected a $8 to $10 million opening for the Judd Apatow-produced film directed by Nicholas Stoller and starring Billy Eichner and Luke Macfarlane.Before the movie was released, homophobes had review bombed the movie with low ratings.

Universal Pictures booked “Bros” onto 3,350 screens and spent an estimated $30 million to $40 million to promote it.

Bros producer Guy Branum opened up about his initial distrust of Nicholas Stoller directing the film’s gay sex scenes. 

Check your local listings. While a streaming release date has not yet been announced, “Bros” will eventually be streaming on Peacock since it’s a Universal Pictures release.

Now, comedian and actor Billy Eichner is taking a stab at the feel-good genre with “Bros,” an R-rated romantic comedy that opens in 3,300 North American theaters on Friday. The movie, from Universal Pictures, is aiming to generate $8 million to $10 million in its opening weekend. It’s not a huge number, but the film carries a modest $22 million production budget. “Bros” is debuting in theaters alongside Paramount’s R-rated chiller “Smile,” which is projected to cast a toothy glow over the domestic box office charts with $16 million to $20 million. That’s a stellar result given that it only cost the studio $17 million to make.
