Drag Race star Mistress Isabelle Brooks has shut down fatphobic “fans” with a powerful statement on social media. On 13 December, season 14 champion Willow Pill ushered in the new season as she revealed the 16 – we repeat, 16 – contestants vying for the title of America’s Next Drag Superstar and a cash prize of $200,000.
As part of the season 15 announcement, each of the cast sat down for the iconic Meet The Queens interview to give fans further insight into their personality, drag-style and comedic talent.
While most of the viewers praised the new batch of queens, some “fans” chose to make fatphobic comments toward Mistress for her playful body postive statement. “A lot of people think I’m a big girl and I’m fat, but I’m really just big-boned.
But my heart goes out to the plus-size girls,” she said in the hilarious teaser. In response to the array of hateful comments, Mistress took to Twitter to slam the haters with a feirce statement. “I’ll never understand why people (especially queer ppl) are so OFFENDED by fat people being confident/happy.
