Dumfries and Galloway’s LGBT+ residents has been captured in an inspiring new commemorative book, This is My Story.It celebrates the 10 year milestone of the Dumfries and Galloway LGBT Plus organisation in the region, the work it does and the events it has held – including Dumfries Pride – as well as the incredible journeys of its members in the community since January 2015.And is being hailed as a first of its kind for the region, featuring a rich collection of real-life stories, poems, and artwork from members of the LGBT+ community in Dumfries and Galloway.
The organisation is dedicated to supporting and advocating for the LGBT+ community through various programs, events, and initiatives.
It strives to create “a more inclusive and understanding society with support, counselling and awareness training”.Dumfries and Galloway LGBT Plus’s Iain Campbell said: “This is My Story’ aims to highlight personal experiences, celebrate diversity, and foster a sense of belonging and understanding within the community.
Through its varied content, the book provides a heartfelt and creative insight into the lives of LGBT+ individuals, showcasing their resilience, joy, and the unique challenges they face.“This compilation not only marks a significant milestone for D&G LGBT Plus but also serves as a powerful testament to the strength and vibrancy of the LGBT+ community.“We invite everyone to join us in celebrating this momentous occasion and to explore the inspiring stories and creative expressions within This is My Story.”The book was launched at gatherings in Dumfries and Stranraer..
