Jonathan Van Ness has fabulous hair – which figures, seeing as he’s a hairdresser and Queer Eye’s resident grooming expert. Last August saw his hotly-anticipated own haircare brand launch in the US, and in the six months that followed his UK fans have been desperate to get their hands on it.
Well cue the party poppers, because as of today it’s finally available exclusively at Space NK (can we get a “yassss, henny”?), so you can shop all 11 of the products right *now*. “I was really clear from the get-go that I wanted to formulate for hair concern versus hair type, because we have to normalise all hair types,” JVN himself says of the “universal” range. “Ultimately, hair is hair is hair.
All different types of hair need, in my experience, one of three things: more moisture, more strength, or more volume and body.” All of the products are vegan and cruelty-free, with prices ranging from £16 to £24.They all feature the brand’s hero ingredient hemisqualane, a natural alternative to silicones that’s derived from sugar cane.
As you’d expect, JVN wanted the range to be as inclusive as possible with products designed for anybody and everybody. “For so long the beauty industry has been the gatekeeper of how hair is ‘supposed’ to look,” he says. “You know, if you’re a male, your hair should look like this; if you’re a female, your hair should look like that.
