Ruby Corado announces plans to ‘step down’ in 2022

Longtime transgender activist Ruby Corado, the founder and current executive director of the D.C. LGBTQ community services center Casa Ruby, announced on Monday in a Facebook posting that she plans to step down as Casa Ruby’s leader around the middle of 2022. “In 1 year and a half I will step down from Casa Ruby LGBT Community Center so I can focus on my Trans Global Institute, my new business and make room for new trans leadership!” she stated in her Facebook post. “I have made a personal promise to myself when I started the organization that I wanted to build a strong foundation,” Corado told the Washington Blade on Wednesday. “I never in my wildest dreams imagined that I will be here forever,” she said. “And when I founded it almost 10
