Kicked off just in time for the winter solstice, this parking-lot pop-up took over a vacant 2,500-square-foot piece of pavement across from Howard Theater on T Street and Florida Avenue in December.
HalfSmoke, dating from 2016, is a relaxed American-fare establishment sporting board games and a menu of sausages crafted over a wood-fired flame.
After working with the owner of the lot earlier in the year to host a Howard University homecoming event, HalfSmoke owner and founder Andre McCain seized on the opportunity to use the space to expand dining options at HalfSmoke during winter COVID-19 restrictions.
