Shawn Mendes has opened up to fans about his sexuality, saying he is “trying to be really brave” while he “figures it out”.The musician and songwriter has faced rumours about his sexual orientation throughout his career, but has previously refrained from speaking about the topic in public.However, during a recent performance, he spoke directly to fans about how he identifies and said that he is just trying to “figure” it out for himself.“There’s this thing about my sexuality, and people have been talking about it so long,”, he said while on stage at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado (via Pedestrian). “[It’s] kind of silly, because I think sexuality is such a beautifully complex thing, and it’s so hard to just put into boxes.”He then went on to describe how the speciation and rumours felt like “an intrusion” into something personal, before sharing his “real truth” with the crowd.“The real truth about my life and my sexuality is that man, I’m just figuring it out like everyone.
And it feels really scary because we live in a society that has a lot to say about that,” he explained. “I’m trying to be really brave and just allow myself to be a human and feel things.
