It’s a strange paradox for author Lisa McInerney, that the more accolades she receives, the bigger her feeling of Imposter Syndrome grows. ‘It’s weird because it should be a case of the other way round,’ she laughs. ‘That the prizes prove the writers’ skill, that you’re on the right path, and instead, it‘s really a strange pressure, and the Imposter Syndrome lands very hard.’ Lisa has just released the finale to her book series, and although the series doesn’t have an official title, the lives of the reoccurring characters are intertwined, gaining her international acclaim and inevitable comparisons to the Barrytown trilogy – that is if it were set in Cork and involved gangs.
