online exhibition to mark Black History Month.It’s been put online by the National AIDS Memorial, which oversees the AIDS Memorial Quilt that began life in the mid-1980s.The idea for the quilt was conceived in 1985 by the San Francisco-based LGBTQ activist, Cleve Jones.

That year, he once again organized an annual march to commemorate the murder of slain councilman Harvey Milk, but he also asked people to bring names on placards of those lost to AIDS.
