Charli XCX has responded to fans speculating over why she unfollowed friend and collaborator Rina Sawayama on social media. Earlier this week, some began wondering if there was an issue between the two after noticing that Charli had unfollowed Rina on Instagram.

This got even more intense when Charli tweeted that she is in her “messy era” on 29 August. Speculation of a feud between the artists, who previously worked together on ‘Beg for You’, became so rife that she issued a public statement on the matter. “Look – this all got a bit crazy – me and Rina spoke about things on the phone just now.

My unfollowing (which happened a couple of weeks ago) was over a personal disagreement between friends which we’ve now spoken about <3,” she wrote on Twitter.

In a separate tweet, the ‘Speed Drive’ singer wrote: “Anyways stream ‘Beg for You’!” Rina is yet to comment on the issue publicly, though some fans believe the issues date back to when the ‘XS’ singer seemingly called out The 1975’s frontman, Matty Healy, at Glastonbury in June.
