Congress is moving from petty to real; from taking away the D.C. mayor’s right to go on the floor of the House to using their right to control D.C.’s legislation and budget.
We are seeing Republicans trying to control more of what happens in the District of Columbia. Sadly, they still can. There are issues that will definitely bring a reaction from Congress and the D.C.
Council has now found two that even Democrats are reacting to. I am against Congress interfering in D.C. government. It is offensive.
But they can as D.C. does not have legislative or budget autonomy. Recently, Council Chair Phil Mendelson held a press conference accusing Congress of playing politics.
