Chloe Zhao was recognizedas best director for Nomadland at the Dorian Film Awards on Sunday, hosted by GALECA; the Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics.
The drama also nabbed the coveted best film honor. "Nomadland is about a woman who goes on a journey of grief and healing and ultimately of self-discovery and self-acceptance," said Zhao as she accepted the directing trophy, adding that the award was "deeply meaningful" to her as the film speaks to society facing tough times.
Elsewhere, best LGBTQ film went to musical dramaMa Rainey's Black Bottom, while its lead actor, the late Chadwick Boseman, won for his performance.
