Eddie Izzard has declared she would have been "murdered" for being transgender if she'd lived in Nazi Germany. The comedian/actor, 59, stars in a new thriller called Six Minutes To Midnight which set in 1939 shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War.

She went public with her decision to use female pronouns last year and has been open about living in "girl mode" as a trans woman.

Speaking about her experiences, she reflected on her new film role and admitted she would have been killed for being so open if she'd lived in Germany through that time period.

Eddie told Sky News : "I consider being trans a superhero thing – I wanted to put it in a very positive light with superheroes because some people are so negative about LGBT
