Pop star Hayley Kiyoko has announced a new YA novel based on her hit single Girls Like Girls. Over the last few years, the openly gay singer has cultivated a welcoming and LGBTQ+ inclusive environment for her expansive queer fanbase.
From tracks like For The Girls and She to her impactful music video for One Bad Night, Kiyoko has rightfully earned the title of Lesbian Jesus.
Now it looks like Kiyoko is gearing up to take the literary world by storm with her latest creative venture. On 14 October, the Lemonade Mouth star announced that she would be releasing her first YA novel titled Girls Like Girls – which is based on her hit song and accompanying music video.
According to a report from Just Jared Jr, the forthcoming novel is set to follow a coming-of-age romance between characters Coley and Sonya. “Ever since I released the music video for Girls Like Girls [in 2015], it has been a dream of mine to tell the whole story of Coley and Sonya,” Kiyoko revealed in a statement. “I am so excited to explore these characters further in a novel – to really get inside their heads and their hearts, and to take readers on their quest for love.
