The International Gay and Lesbian Football Association has relocated its world championships to Washington, D.C. and Sydney, Australia after the tournaments were dropped by the Hong Kong Gay Games program.
The 7v7 championship will be held in June 2022 in Washington, D.C.; and the 11v11 championship will be held in February 2023 in Sydney in conjunction with World Pride.
Sydney will also host a seven-player team tournament during its championship; the exact dates for both championships have yet to be announced. "Both proposals were great," said Gus Penaranda, IGLFA president. "Both clubs made it very clear that their goal is to increase women's team participation." IGLFA will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2022 and hold its 24th world
