Faithful reader says thanksI'd like to share a few reflections of what your publication has meant to me. I was born in the city — third generation San Franciscan — in 1954 but my parents moved to the South Bay soon thereafter so I grew up in Menlo Park and Redwood City.
I moved back to San Francisco in 1978, when I began graduate school. Coming out was not easy: I knew no one, gay or otherwise, had no positive role models in the community, and was dealing with coming out alone.
I resided on Henry Street, north of Castro and Market streets, and would venture into the 'hood when I had time and soon discovered the Bay Area Reporter.
