The minister for women and equalities told MPs there was a “difference of opinion” regarding the Gender Recognition Act (GRA), specifically the inclusion of the Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC). “The issue was a fundamental difference of opinion on that issue,” Truss told MPs.
The LGBT panel was established as part of Theresa May’s 2018 LGBT Action Plan. The aim of the advisory panel was to offer insight “on issues and policies concerning lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.” The dissolving of the LGBT panel followed the resignation of three leading equality advisors: Jayne Ozanne, James Morton and Ellen Murray.
