The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal has opened up about filming the upcoming queer Western Strange Way of Life. Back in June 2022, director Pedro Almodóvar announced that he was working on a 30-minute short film with the Massive Talent star and Ethan Hawke.

Described as his “answer to Brokeback Mountain,” the director also revealed that Pascal would be playing a gunslinger named Silva, with Hawke stepping into the role of a Sherrif named Jake. “One of them travels through the desert to find the other.

There will be a showdown between them, but really the story is very intimate,” Almodóvar explained to Indie Wire at the time.

Over the last few months, LGBTQ+ movie enthusiasts have been eager to learn more about the film – which is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
