Andrzej Sebastian Duda (born 16 May 1972) is a Polish lawyer and politician who has served as president of Poland since 6 August 2015. Before becoming president, Andrzej Duda was a member of Polish Lower House (Sejm) from 2011 to 2014 and the European Parliament from 2014 to 2015.
With just four days to go until Poland's planned presidential election, it's still unclear whether it will go ahead. The ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) — whose preferred candidate Andrzej Duda is the current president and overwhelming favourite to win the election — wants an all-postal ballot to avoid worsening the country's COVID-19 outbreak.
It put legislation forward to do this, which MPs swiftly approved. But the bill was struck down by the opposition-held Senate earlier this week.
