The 55-year-old Americana actress revealed the revived franchise will correct the “wrong portrayal of gay characters”. Nixon, who is married to wife Christine Marinoni, acknowledged how the old version of Sex And The City reinforced troubling LGBTQ+ stereotypes. “As wonderful as [SATC] is, to do that show right now would be incredibly tone-deaf,” she told Elle. “It’s part of the reason we wanted to do the show – to go back and [undo] the things that we really got wrong.
The star added: “We had gay characters [in SATC], but a lot of the LGBT stuff in it was purely for comedic effect – and now rings harsh on the ear, I have to say,” she explained.
