Romeo Nguase, a 22-year-old bisexual man who sought asylum in the UK after fleeing from Namibia, was found dead on April 16 after being forcibly relocated by the Home Office from Glasgow to Hull.
It is understood that Nguase committed suicide, but an inquest into his death has not yet taken place. Java Kahiha, Nguase’s cousin, told HullLive that Romeo had been “abused” by family members in Namibia, leading him to move to the UK.The two previously lived together in Glasgow, with Kahiha saying: “The Home Office transferred him by force, and against his will, from Glasgow to Newcastle and then accommodated him in Hull…On April 1 he wanted to end his life and he ended up in hospital.
