Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is the 45th and current president of the United States. Before entering politics, he was a businessman and television personality. Trump was born and raised in Queens, a borough of New York City, and received a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School. He took charge of his family's real-estate business in 1971, renamed it The Trump Organization, and expanded its operations from Queens and Brooklyn into Manhattan. The company built or renovated skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. Trump later started various side ventures, mostly by licensing his name. He bought the Miss Universe brand of beauty pageants in 1996, and sold it in 2015. He produced and hosted The Apprentice, a reality television series, from 2003 to 2015. As of 2020, Forbes estimated his net worth to be $2.1 billion.[

First homeless shelter for the trans community to open in New Orleans

The House of Tulip (Trans United Leading Intersectional Progress) trust in the US, which aims to  alleviate the issue of trans homelessness and provide long-term solutions, is currently in the process of fundraising to buy a property in New Orleans, Louisiana, which will become a safe house for transgender and gender non-conforming people.

This shelter will be the first of its kind in the US, and so far nearly $300,000 has been raised on the journey to meeting the $400,000 target.A recent release from the Department of Housing & Urban Planning in the US proved to be a major setback for homeless trans people, as the Trump Administration has altered legislation to allow housing shelters to ignore trans people’s gender identity, and even deny.

A new 2020 study from the UBC School of Nursing has demonstrated that having access to a supportive community and living in a progressive political climate helps decrease suicidal tendencies in young LGBTQ+ people.The study, which focused on young people living in Canada and was published in the October 2020 edition of the journal of Preventive Medicine, stated that young people who identify as a sexual minority are more likely to experience suicidal thoughts and behaviour than their heterosexual counterparts.The study sampled 2,678 queer and heterosexual students, and the student’s reports of suicidal tendencies in the last year were merged with data that assessed the LGBTQ+ support resources and political climates surrounding the schools
