Provincetown, Massachusetts once before during the winter season and even then, I enjoyed my time there. Of course, P-Town is much slower during the colder months than it was during my most recent visit, but I still enjoyed the small-town charm of this iconic coastal destination.Provincetown is one of the most LGBTQ-friendly destinations in the country, if not the world. From the moment you arrive by ferry or by car, you are quickly transported into a rainbow oasis which makes it seems as if you are on an island where you are free to express yourself in any way you please.As soon as I stepped foot off the Bay State Cruise Company ferry from Boston, I checked in to the Foxberry Inn, a beautiful property located less than a mile from the heart of P-Town.

Meet Windi, a 3-year-old domestic shorthair mix. She’s a pretty little kitty with striped gray fur and a white underbelly and paws. Windi appeared to be a little shy when she first arrived at the SPCA of Texas, but that turned out not to be the case at all. She loves attention and is generally affable to meeting new people. She is energetic, loves to play and is a fierce hunter of toys. Windi came to the SPCA of Texas from Kaufman County where she was found living with other animals in less-than-ideal conditions. She was pregnant at the time and has subsequently given birth to a healthy litter of kittens. Those kittens have been adopted, now it’s Windi’s turn to find a forever home. Like all pets from the SPCA of Texas, Windi is now spayed, microchipped and current on all her necessary vaccines. She is housed at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center in Dallas and available by appointment.

WASHINGTON — President Biden signed an executive order on Wednesday aimed at protecting L.G.B.T.Q. people from a cascade of legislation in conservative states that increasingly targets the rights of gays, lesbians, transgender youth and others. Joe Biden launched his own plan to protect the health care of transgender youth after Republican Governor Ron DeSantis moved to end gender-affirming care for minors in Florida.On Wednesday, Biden will sign an executive order calling on the Department of Health and Human Services to clarify that federally funded programs are banned from offering conversion therapy and to take "steps to address the barriers and exclusionary policies" by expanding access to different types of health care and treatment.Conversion therapy, a practice seeking to change an individual's sexual orientation or gender identity, is already banned in at least 20 states and Washington, D.C., according to the think tank Movement Advancement Project.Biden's move comes less than two weeks after DeSantis' administration asked the state board regulating doctors to ban Medicaid coverage for minors seeking transition-related care, which includes puberty blockers, hormone therapies or gender-reassignment surgery.DeSantis is among a string of Republican state officials who have restricted access to health care for transgender youth in recent months.Texas Governor Greg Abbott also stirred controversy in February for ordering the state department of family and protective services to investigate parents who provide their children with gender-affirming care. In the swing state of Pennsylvania, Republican primary voters have nominated a gubernatorial candidate who, shockingly, is even to the right of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas: State Sen. Doug Mastriano, who is going up against the Democratic nominee, Pennsylvania Attorney General Josh Shapiro, in the general election. Mastriano is a far-right, ultra-MAGA Christian nationalist and conspiracy theorist who continues to promote the Big Lie and falsely claims that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump — and a combination of Democrats and establishment Republicans are cringing over the nomination.

For the second time this spring, a New York City institution is facing a backlash over a conservative Jewish conference, long in the planning, because of one of its featured speakers: Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida. In May, the Museum of Jewish Heritage backed out of a tentative rental agreement to host the event.
