My Policeman starring Harry Styles as a queer man in mid-20th Century England has dropped. The film toggles between past and present, with Styles as the young Tom Burgess, a Brighton policeman discovering his identity at a time in England when queerness was criminalized and LGBTQ+ people were routinely jailed.

The Crown star Emma Corrin is Tom’s wife Marion while David Dawson stars as Tom’s lover Patrick. Linus Roache, who played a closeted Catholic in 1994’s Priest plays present-day Tom while Gina McKee plays the older Marion.

Rupert Everett, who is gay and played gay as far back as Another Country in 1984 before becoming widely known for playing Julia Roberts’s fabulous pal in My Best Friend’s Wedding, plays Patrick in the present.Without giving much away, the teaser highlights the friendship that blossoms between its three young characters while Tom and Patrick (an art aficionado with a penchant for sketching his love interests) act on their attraction away in private. My Policeman is based on Bethan Roberts’s novel of the same name.
