He bought the Miss Universe brand of beauty pageants in 1996, and sold it in 2015. He produced and hosted The Apprentice, a reality television series, from 2003 to 2015. As of 2020, Forbes estimated his net worth to be $2.1 billion.[

Sentenza storica in Bangladesh, dove ieri il tribunale speciale antiterrorismo di Dacca ha condannato a morte sei estremisti islamici per l’omicidio del fondatore della rivista Lgbt Roopbaan Xulhaz Mannan e dell’attivista Mahbub Tonoy.

Quattro delle sei persone condannate a morte, tutte appartenenti al gruppo jihadista Ansar Bangla, sono state processate in contumacia, mentre altri due imputati sono stati assolti.

In febbraio il tribunale aveva già emesso un verdetto di pena capitale per cinque di loro, colpevoli dell’assassinio di un blogger e di un editore nel 2015.

Mahbu Tonoy e Xulhaz Mannan erano stati assassinati, il 25 aprile 2016, nell’appartamento di quest’ultimo a Dacca con colpi di machete e pistola.
