The seventh season of Married At First Sight UK is set to feature two LGBTQ+ couples. Back in May, a source close to the show revealed that the series’ first-ever lesbian couple would be featured in the forthcoming season. “Married At First Sight had a male same-sex couple last year, and now they will have a female same-sex couple.
Everyone who works on the show is excited that it’s happening,” a source close to production told Metro. “It’s another small milestone for the series when it comes to diversity and inclusivity.
The hope is that including a lesbian couple will break down some stereotypes.” Now it looks like the aforementioned couple won’t be the only queer people to be featured in the new batch of episodes.
On 10 June, E4 revealed that a same-sex male couple would be joining the upcoming season of Married At First Sight UK. Shortly after the news was announced, relationship expert Mel Schilling expressed her excitement for the couple’s inclusion. “We take the matchmaking process extremely seriously and when it comes to finding and matching our couples, it’s so important to us that we find matches that are authentic and reflect the diversity of the society we live in,” she said. “That’s why I’m so thrilled that this year we’re welcoming not just one, but two same-sex couples into the fold.
