Netflix’s hit LGBTQ+ series Heartstopper has earned nine Children’s & Family Emmy nominations. Over the last few months, queer TV enthusiasts have immersed themselves in the heartwarming young adult series.
The show, which is based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novel of the same name, follows Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), a “high-strung, openly gay over-thinker,” and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), “a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player”, as they explore their blossoming romantic relationship.
Upon its release in March, the series earned rave reviews from fans and critics – with viewers watching 23,940,000 hours of the show during its first full week on the platform.
Locke and Connor were also lauded for their heartfelt performances – which resulted in them landing nominations at the coveted National Television Awards.
