‘Queen Charlotte’ actors discuss gay characters on Netflix show

The “Bridgerton” universe was already diverse and inclusive, but now, it just got a whole lot gayer. With the release of “Queen Charlotte,” Netflix’s highly-anticipated prequel spin-off series to the popular flagship “Bridgerton” franchise, LGBTQ+ viewers were finally introduced to Queen Charlotte’s secretary Brimsley and King George III’s secretary Reynolds, two queer men who have a thing for sneaking away and getting it on whenever they can.

While the main focus of the series is obviously Queen Charlotte’s budding relationship with her husband George, while those two are off getting to know each other, Brimsley and Reynolds are also in their own secret relationship, and any chance they get to spend some alone time together, they take.

Out contributor Gabriella Angelina sat down with Sam Clemmett and Freddie Dennis, the two actors who brought Brimsley and Reynolds to life (respectively), to chat about filming those spicy scenes, their guilty pleasure TV shows, what the most rewarding part of being in the world of “Bridgerton” was, and more.  “They created such a safe space,” Dennis said when asked by Out about filming the more intimate scenes between his character Reynolds and Clemmett’s Brimsley with the help of an on-set coordinator. “Obviously with all intimate scenes, it requires vulnerability.
